The average export price for optical elements; polarising material, sheets and plates thereoves stood at $61,821 per ton in December 2023, growing by 14% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 23% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $66,819 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to December 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was China ($94,541 per ton), while the average price for exports to Japan ($43,116 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Korea (+5.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In December 2023, the average import price for optical elements; polarising material, sheets and plates thereoves amounted to $253K per ton, with an increase of 17% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in August 2023 an increase of 56% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $557K per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to December 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($768K per ton), while the price for Japan ($220K per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (+7.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
