In 2022, the average import price for oils and products of the distillation of high temperature coal tar; xyloles amounted to $1,463 per ton, almost unchanged from the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average import price increased by 43% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $1,558 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($2,107 per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($878 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+17.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of oils and products of the distillation of high temperature coal tar; xyloles, when their volume decreased by -8.2% to 912 tons. Over the period under review, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +17.9% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +63.8% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 62% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 993 tons, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, imports of oils and products of the distillation of high temperature coal tar; xyloles fell to $1.3M in 2022. In general, imports, however, posted significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 131%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $1.5M, and then reduced in the following year.
