In 2022, the average import price for oils and products of the distillation of high temperature coal tar; benzoles amounted to $1,167 per ton, surging by 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a perceptible shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 68%. The import price peaked at $2,695 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were Romania ($1,217 per ton) and the Netherlands ($1,213 per ton), while the price for France ($1,120 per ton) and Italy ($1,198 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Romania (+56.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1,622 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($849 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium totaled $622 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+17.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
