Price for Nuts (Prepared or Preserved) in Uganda (FOB) - 2022

The average nuts (prepared or preserved) export price stood at $1,955 per ton in 2022, surging by 29% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 78%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $4,686 per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($4,560 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($1,460 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+51.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average nuts (prepared or preserved) import price amounted to $3,158 per ton, increasing by 4.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price posted a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average import price increased by 91%. The import price peaked at $3,171 per ton in 2018; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($8,816 per ton), while the price for South Africa ($2,780 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Greece (+54.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Exports of Nuts (Prepared or Preserved) in Uganda

In 2022, approx. 10 tons of nuts (prepared or preserved) were exported from Uganda; reducing by -35.9% against the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a abrupt descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 151% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 16 tons, and then contracted notably in the following year.

In value terms, nuts (prepared or preserved) exports shrank dramatically to $21K in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a abrupt contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 52%.
