Price for Nuts (Prepared or Preserved) in the UK (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average nuts (prepared or preserved) import price amounted to $7,019 per ton, reducing by -6.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 15% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $7,641 per ton. From June 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was India ($12,235 per ton), while the price for Sri Lanka ($1,977 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In August 2023, the average nuts (prepared or preserved) export price amounted to $9,651 per ton, waning by -5.4% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 36% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $10,740 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to August 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($10,599 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($5,365 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Nuts (Prepared or Preserved) in the UK
After two years of decline, supplies from abroad of nuts (prepared or preserved) increased by 22% to 26K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable downturn.
In value terms, nuts (prepared or preserved) imports surged to $172M in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a slight curtailment.
