Price for Non-Aqueous Paint and Varnish in Norway (CIF) - 2023
The average non-aqueous paint and varnish import price stood at $6,620 per ton in August 2023, flattening at the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 9% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $6,666 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to August 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($11,055 per ton), while the price for Poland ($3,746 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bosnia and Herzegovina (+1.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In August 2023, the average non-aqueous paint and varnish export price amounted to $5,676 per ton, with a decrease of -18.2% against the previous month. In general, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 28% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $6,939 per ton in July 2023, and then dropped significantly in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Germany ($16,630 per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($3,329 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+4.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Non-Aqueous Paint and Varnish in Norway
Non-aqueous paint and varnish imports into Norway declined to 17K tons in 2022, remaining relatively unchanged against the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period.
