The average import price for non-alcoholic beverages, not containing milk stood at $1.2 per litre in September 2022, falling by -2.9% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a measured expansion from September 2021 to September 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.7% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2022 figures, non-alcoholic beverage, not containing milk import price decreased by -4.2% against June 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2022 when the average import price increased by 28% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $1.2 per litre in June 2022; afterwards, it flattened through to September 2022.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($2.0 per litre), while the price for Malaysia ($940 per thousand litres) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2021 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+7.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for non-alcoholic beverages, not containing milk stood at $1 per litre in 2022, reducing by -12.3% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average export price increased by 34% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $1.1 per litre in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($1.7 per litre), while the average price for exports to China ($0.8 per litre) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+9.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Non-Alcoholic Beverage, Not Containing Milk in Singapore

In 2022, approx. 229M litres of non-alcoholic beverages, not containing milk were imported into Singapore; growing by 5.5% on the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.1% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 9.6%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, non-alcoholic beverage, not containing milk imports expanded notably to $189M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +7.0% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 17%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
