The average import price for niobium, tantalum, vanadium or zirconium ores and concentrateses stood at $2,211 per ton in 2022, growing by 54% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a slight curtailment. The import price peaked at $2,492 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($2,546 per ton), while the price for Canada ($1,232 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+12.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average export price for niobium, tantalum, vanadium or zirconium ores and concentrateses stood at $2,713 per ton in October 2023, shrinking by -52.5% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 an increase of 369% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $5,710 per ton in September 2023, and then plummeted in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($4,893 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy totaled $751 per ton.
From November 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kuwait (+26.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Niobium, Tantalum, Vanadium or Zirconium Ores and Concentrates in India
In 2022, approx. 86K tons of niobium, tantalum, vanadium or zirconium ores and concentrateses were imported into India; declining by -20.4% against 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 91%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 108K tons, and then shrank markedly in the following year.
In value terms, imports of niobium, tantalum, vanadium or zirconium ores and concentrateses surged to $190M in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 97%. Over the period under review, imports of attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, exports of niobium, tantalum, vanadium or zirconium ores and concentrateses declined rapidly to $3K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a sharp shrinkage. The smallest decline of -32.8% was in 2021.
