In July 2023, the average import price for nickel; wire, of nickel alloyses amounted to $31,722 per ton, dropping by -6.4% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, saw modest growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 15% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $37,121 per ton. From February 2023 to July 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($45,990 per ton), while the price for Austria ($28,588 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In July 2023, the average export price for nickel; wire, of nickel alloyses amounted to $46,099 per ton, picking up by 1.7% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2023 an increase of 5.5% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $46,508 per ton. From June 2023 to July 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Poland ($52,065 per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($25,033 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Nickel; Wire, of Nickel Alloys in Germany
In 2022, approx. 9K tons of nickel; wire, of nickel alloyses were imported into Germany; waning by -4.6% on 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a perceptible decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 10%.
