In 2022, the average nickel; unwrought, not alloyed import price amounted to $22,342 per ton, surging by 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated mild growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, nickel; unwrought, not alloyed import price increased by +60.5% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 36% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($39,908 per ton), while the price for Norway ($8,490 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In value terms, nickel; unwrought, not alloyed imports declined markedly to $4M in 2022. In general, imports saw a pronounced decrease. As a result, imports reached the peak of $4.7M, and then shrank notably in the following year.
