The average import price for nickel; tubes and pipes, not alloyeds stood at $9,390 per ton in 2022, picking up by 18% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a pronounced descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the average import price increased by 269% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $53,603 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($73,020 per ton), while the price for Austria ($8,020 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+4.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the fourth consecutive year, Bulgaria recorded growth in overseas purchases of nickel; tubes and pipes, not alloyeds, which increased by 7.2% to 29 tons in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +19.9% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +72.3% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 33% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, imports of nickel; tubes and pipes, not alloyeds surged to $274K in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a significant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +21.9% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +80.9% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
