The average export price for nickel; plates, sheets, strip and foils stood at $35,149 per ton in 2022, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for nickel; plates, sheets, strip and foils increased by +88.3% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 104%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($135,674 per ton), while the average price for exports to Russia stood at $7,998 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kazakhstan (+42.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a noticeable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 111% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, imports of nickel; plates, sheets, strip and foils contracted remarkably to $37K in 2022. In general, imports recorded a sharp setback. The smallest decline of -41.5% was in 2020.
