Price for Nickel; Bars, Rods, Profiles and Wire in France (FOB) - 2022
The average export price for nickel; bars, rods, profiles and wires stood at $31,269 per ton in 2022, picking up by 26% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for nickel; bars, rods, profiles and wires increased by +10.4% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average export price increased by 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($33,971 per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria ($3,025 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+6.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for nickel; bars, rods, profiles and wires stood at $42,726 per ton in August 2023, picking up by 35% against the previous month. Over the last eight months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +5.5%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the UK ($67,720 per ton), while the price for India ($24,333 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+7.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Nickel; Bars, Rods, Profiles and Wire in France
In 2022, overseas shipments of nickel; bars, rods, profiles and wires were finally on the rise to reach 13K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a abrupt shrinkage.
