In November 2023, the average export price for nickel; bars, rods and profiles, not alloyeds amounted to $27,145 per ton, with a decrease of -45.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a noticeable contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in October 2023 when the average export price increased by 73% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $50,312 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to November 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($72,404 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United States ($48,049 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Switzerland (+8.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for nickel; bars, rods and profiles, not alloyeds stood at $28,706 per ton in 2022, rising by 12% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a slight expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, import price for nickel; bars, rods and profiles, not alloyeds increased by +110.2% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 37%. The import price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($36,422 per ton), while the price for Poland ($18,850 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (+18.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
