In September 2023, the average export price for molluscs; oysters, whether in shell or not, live, fresh or chilleds amounted to $4,763 per ton, dropping by -6.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated moderate growth from October 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.0% over the last eleven months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, export price for molluscs; oysters, whether in shell or not, live, fresh or chilleds decreased by -24.4% against June 2023 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2023 when the average export price increased by 50% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $6,301 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to September 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was France ($4,856 per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($2,497 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

As a result, import price reached the peak level of $11,551 per ton. From April 2023 to September 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Spain ($15,854 per ton), while the price for Ireland ($6,430 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
