In September 2023, the average import price for molluscs; oysters, whether in shell or not, live, fresh or chilleds amounted to $9,858 per ton, which is down by -2.8% against the previous month. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 9.5% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $10,836 per ton. From January 2023 to September 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Canada ($17,602 per ton), while the price for China ($2,810 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price peaked at $11,547 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to September 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Macao SAR ($11,232 per ton), while the average price for exports to China amounted to $9,580 per ton.

From November 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+5.5%).
