The average import price for mollusc preparations; octopus, prepared or preserveds stood at $11,240 per ton in September 2023, growing by 158% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2023 when the average import price increased by 246% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $13,919 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to September 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Japan ($15,031 per ton), while the price for China ($10,798 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $8,680 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to September 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($10,432 per ton), while the average price for exports to New Zealand ($5,020 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From February 2023 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+7.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +12.8% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 36%. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, exports of mollusc preparations; octopus, prepared or preserveds rose markedly to $6.2M in 2022.
