The average import price for mollusc preparations; octopus, prepared or preserveds stood at $7,184 per ton in December 2022, dropping by -3.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2022 an increase of 16% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $7,811 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to December 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($14,323 per ton), while the price for China ($6,056 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2021 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (-0.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $13,838 per ton. From March 2022 to December 2022, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In December 2022, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($17,088 per ton), while the average price for exports to Japan ($9,973 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2021 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+12.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
