In July 2023, the average import price for mica, including splittings; mica wastes amounted to $339 per ton, picking up by 3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 8.3% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $377 per ton. From May 2023 to July 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Canada ($1,029 per ton), while the price for China ($257 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average export price for mica, including splittings; mica wastes stood at $2,232 per ton in 2022, which is down by -4.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the average export price increased by 8.6%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $4,931 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($11,729 per ton), while the average price for exports to Vietnam ($253 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+5.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
