The average export price for metals; platinum, unwrought or in powder forms stood at $31,908,836 per ton in 2022, which is down by -12.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a noticeable descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 33% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $51,385,393 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Germany ($34,806,869 per ton) and Switzerland ($33,415,551 per ton), while the average price for exports to Japan ($30,459,747 per ton) and Hong Kong SAR ($31,180,658 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hong Kong SAR (+7.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average import price for metals; platinum, unwrought or in powder forms amounted to $39,561,976 per ton, with a decrease of -8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, posted a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average import price increased by 234%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $43,004,271 per ton in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for the United Arab Emirates.
