Price for Manganese Oxides; Excluding Manganese Dioxide in India (FOB) - 2022
The average export price for manganese oxides; excluding manganese dioxides stood at $622 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 3.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a pronounced slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 22%. The export price peaked at $882 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Canada ($733 per ton) and Vietnam ($722 per ton), while the average price for exports to France ($501 per ton) and the United States ($549 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (-0.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In July 2023, the average import price for manganese oxides; excluding manganese dioxides amounted to $1,542 per ton, surging by 55% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 439% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $2,364 per ton. From December 2022 to July 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was China ($2,068 per ton), while the price for Australia ($1,161 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Zambia (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Exports of Manganese Oxides; Excluding Manganese Dioxide in India
In 2022, shipments abroad of manganese oxides; excluding manganese dioxides decreased by -1.6% to 21K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, total exports indicated significant growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +21.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +78.7% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 76% against the previous year.
In value terms, manganese oxides; excluding manganese dioxide exports reached $13M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +8.0% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 29% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $13M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 51%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $10M, and then shrank notably in the following year.
