The average import price for liquefied petroleum gases other than propane, butanes, ethylene, propylene, butylene or butadienes stood at $854 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 25% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 48%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $1,736 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($1,444 per ton), while the price for Latvia ($603 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Latvia (+11.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in August 2023 when the average export price increased by 51% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $13,793 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to November 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Ukraine.

From November 2022 to November 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Ukraine amounted to +13.0% per month.

In 2022, imports of liquefied petroleum gases other than propane, butanes, ethylene, propylene, butylene or butadienes into Slovakia contracted dramatically to 5.1K tons, reducing by -39.9% compared with the previous year. In general, imports continue to indicate a dramatic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 9% against the previous year.

The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 1.2%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

In value terms, exports of liquefied petroleum gases other than propane, butanes, ethylene, propylene, butylene or butadienes totaled $3.4M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +11.6% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
