The average import price for lighters; pocket, cigarette, gas fuelled, non-refillables stood at $38.5 per thousand units in January 2024, shrinking by -71.6% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a drastic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 45% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $145 per thousand units in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to January 2024, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2024, the country with the highest price was France ($52.0 per thousand units), while the price for Spain totaled $34.0 per thousand units.
From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+1.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a noticeable slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 71%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $0.4 per unit. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Iran ($0.4 per unit), while the average price for exports to Albania ($0.1 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Tunisia (+66.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
