The average lead; powders and flakes import price stood at $2,947 per ton in 2022, rising by 173% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, faced a deep reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average import price increased by 217%. The import price peaked at $17,892 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($13,554 per ton), while the price for Russia ($1,106 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (-2.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Imports of Lead; Powders and Flakes in Peru
In 2022, overseas purchases of lead; powders and flakeses decreased by -69.2% to 14 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, saw a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 564% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 46 tons, and then shrank remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, lead; powders and flakes imports reduced notably to $42K in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +14.3% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +49.3% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 47% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $50K, and then plummeted in the following year.
