The average import price for iron ores and concentrates, non-agglomerated stood at $272 per ton in 2022, waning by -3.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the average import price increased by 98% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $429 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($268 per ton), while the price for the United States totaled $96 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+1.7%).

In 2022, supplies from abroad of iron ores and concentrates, non-agglomerated was finally on the rise to reach 91 tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a dramatic setback.
In value terms, iron ore and concentrate, non-agglomerated imports fell to $25K in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a sharp contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 1.1% against the previous year.
