The average import price for iron ores and concentrates, agglomerated (excluding roasted iron pyrites) stood at $180 per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -12.3% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 60%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $205 per ton, and then reduced in the following year.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Ukraine ($204 per ton) and Canada ($194 per ton), while the price for South Africa ($147 per ton) and Russia ($156 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+4.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, the export price, however, showed a pronounced reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 310% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $842 per ton. From May 2023 to August 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Austria.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Austria amounted to -2.2% per month.
