In 2022, the average import price for iron or non-alloy steel wire, plated or coated with zincs amounted to $1,068 per ton, shrinking by -4.9% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 49%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,123 per ton, and then dropped modestly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($2,628 per ton), while the price for China ($851 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Qatar (+10.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The export price peaked at $1,170 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to January 2024, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In January 2024, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($2,132 per ton), while the average price for exports to Australia ($817 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
