In January 2024, the average export price for iron or non-alloy steel wire, not plated or coateds amounted to $887 per ton, increasing by 2.6% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, saw a mild contraction. The export price peaked at $1,054 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to January 2024, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In January 2024, the countries with the highest prices were Serbia ($915 per ton) and Spain ($914 per ton), while the average price for exports to Qatar ($792 per ton) and Israel ($807 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From February 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (-0.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The average import price for iron or non-alloy steel wire, not plated or coateds stood at $1,345 per ton in January 2024, with a decrease of -13.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in August 2023 an increase of 21% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $2,409 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to January 2024, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($1,834 per ton), while the price for Iran ($580 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From February 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Iran (+2.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
