The average export price for iron or non-alloy steel; bars and rods, hot-rolled, in irregularly wound coilses stood at $740 per ton in August 2023, shrinking by -3.9% against the previous month. In general, the export price showed a mild descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 3.7% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $842 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In August 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Germany ($861 per ton) and Romania ($800 per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovakia ($700 per ton) and the UK ($724 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (-0.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

As a result, import price attained the peak level of $814 per ton. From May 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from the UK ($855 per ton) and Austria ($742 per ton), while the price for Germany ($622 per ton) and Moldova ($622 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (-1.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
