Price for Iodides and Iodide Oxides in Turkey (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average iodides and iodide oxides import price amounted to $53,681 per ton, growing by 14% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a pronounced contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $66,601 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($74,551 per ton), while the price for France ($21,677 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (+5.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average iodides and iodide oxides export price stood at $70,113 per ton in 2022, picking up by 129% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 141% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($238,400 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ecuador ($14,871 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+84.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Iodides and Iodide Oxides in Turkey
For the fourth consecutive year, Turkey recorded growth in supplies from abroad of iodides and iodide oxideses, which increased by 11% to 34 tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, iodides and iodide oxides imports surged to $1.8M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated significant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +23.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +87.7% against 2019 indices. In general, exports continue to indicate a precipitous shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 145%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 3.7 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
