In November 2023, the average import price for hydrogen, rare gases and other non-metalses amounted to $534 per thousand cubic meters, with a decrease of -6.5% against the previous month. In general, the import price saw a pronounced setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 an increase of 36% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $810 per thousand cubic meters in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to November 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($746 per thousand cubic meters), while the price for Bulgaria ($226 per thousand cubic meters) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Serbia (+3.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average export price for hydrogen, rare gases and other non-metalses amounted to $1.9 per cubic meter, increasing by 2.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the average export price increased by 75% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $3 per cubic meter in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Romania ($8.4 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Bulgaria ($0.4 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Serbia (+18.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Hydrogen, Rare Gases and Other Non-Metals in Greece

Imports of hydrogen, rare gases and other non-metalses into Greece surged to 87M cubic meters in 2022, growing by 42% on 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +12.0% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +57.1% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, imports of hydrogen, rare gases and other non-metalses skyrocketed to $36M in 2022. Overall, imports saw significant growth. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
