In November 2023, the average import price for hot-rolled wire rods in coils amounted to $718 per ton, picking up by 19% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Iran ($733 per ton) and Russia ($718 per ton), while the price for Kyrgyzstan ($525 per ton) and Kazakhstan ($588 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (-0.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average export price for hot-rolled wire rods in coils amounted to $789 per ton, declining by -3.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a perceptible increase from 2017 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last five years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, hot-rolled wire rod in coils export price increased by +75.3% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average export price increased by 82%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $900 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($828 per ton), while the average price for exports to Kazakhstan ($425 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2017 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Tajikistan (-15.2%).
