Price for Hot-Rolled Wire Rod in Coils in Croatia (CIF) - 2023
In December 2023, the average import price for hot-rolled wire rods in coils amounted to $708 per ton, rising by 2.4% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a slight decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 6.6% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $809 per ton. From May 2023 to December 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Poland ($888 per ton) and the Czech Republic ($786 per ton), while the price for Austria ($687 per ton) and Italy ($694 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bosnia and Herzegovina (+4.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In December 2023, the average export price for hot-rolled wire rods in coils amounted to $745 per ton, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a slight curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 31% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,197 per ton. From March 2023 to December 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($1,393 per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovenia ($686 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Czech Republic (0.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Imports of Hot-Rolled Wire Rod in Coils in Croatia
Hot-rolled wire rod in coils imports into Croatia dropped rapidly to 98K tons in 2022, which is down by -15.8% against 2021 figures. Overall, imports showed a mild shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 18%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 117K tons, and then declined sharply in the following year.
