Overall, the import price saw a slight setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in August 2023 when the average import price increased by 2.4% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $1,517 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to November 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from China ($1,548 per ton) and Germany ($1,345 per ton), while the price for India ($1,178 per ton) and South Korea ($1,237 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+0.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 33%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1,317 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($1,708 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($832 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Switzerland (+25.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
