In 2022, the average import price for halides and halide oxides of non-metals; excluding chlorides amounted to $7,163 per ton, which is down by -14.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a noticeable curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the average import price increased by 110% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $16,995 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($10,909 per ton), while the price for India ($943 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+7.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, the export price, however, showed a drastic downturn. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $4,682 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($7,370 per ton), while the average price for exports to Botswana ($48 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+1.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

For the fourth year in a row, South Africa recorded growth in overseas purchases of halides and halide oxides of non-metals; excluding chlorides, which increased by 230% to 185 tons in 2022. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
