Price for Gym and Fitness Equipment in New Zealand (CIF) - 2022
The average gym and fitness equipment import price stood at $8,629 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 7.8% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +7.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, gym and fitness equipment import price increased by +15.9% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average import price increased by 58% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $8,638 per ton in 2018; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were Australia ($8,629 per ton) and the United States ($8,629 per ton), while the price for China ($8,629 per ton) and Taiwan (Chinese) ($8,629 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+10.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average gym and fitness equipment export price amounted to $9,912 per ton, surging by 37% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average export price increased by 55%. The export price peaked at $12,178 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Tonga ($9,910 per ton) and France ($9,910 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($9,909 per ton) and the UK ($9,909 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+14.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Gym and Fitness Equipment in New Zealand
In 2022, purchases abroad of gym and fitness equipment decreased by -25.3% to 7K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +43.4% against 2019 indices.
