The average export price for graphite; natural, in powder or in flakeses stood at $812 per ton in 2022, growing by 8.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a mild descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 25% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $946 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($1,679 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Czech Republic ($575 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+7.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average import price increased by 108%. The import price peaked at $13,069 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Sweden ($3,878 per ton) and Germany ($3,382 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($2,890 per ton) and Austria ($2,922 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sweden (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Overall, imports, however, recorded a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 351% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 374 tons, and then shrank slightly in the following year.
