The average gearboxes and speed changers import price stood at $22,641 per ton in 2022, approximately equating the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $26,994 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from India ($22,646 per ton) and the United States ($22,646 per ton), while the price for Italy ($22,646 per ton) and France ($22,646 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (-0.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average gearboxes and speed changers export price amounted to $22,865 per ton, surging by 9.2% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated notable growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, gearboxes and speed changers export price increased by +112.6% against 2019 indices. From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+36.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Gearboxes and Speed Changers in Egypt

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of gearboxes and speed changers, when their volume increased by 80% to 2.5K tons. Overall, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, gearboxes and speed changers imports skyrocketed to $56M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.8% over the last three-year period.
