Price for Frozen, Dried and Smoked Fish in Peru (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average export price for frozen, dried and smoked fish amounted to $4,709 per ton, increasing by 16% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, frozen, dried and smoked fish export price increased by +28.8% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 36%. The export price peaked at $5,421 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($10,330 per ton), while the average price for exports to Cote d'Ivoire ($984 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ecuador (+7.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Price for Frozen, Dried and Smoked Fish in Peru (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average import price for frozen, dried and smoked fish amounted to $2,934 per ton, rising by 3.4% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated pronounced growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, frozen, dried and smoked fish import price increased by +99.7% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 30% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($8,404 per ton), while the price for Chile ($1,498 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (+16.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Frozen, Dried and Smoked Fish in Peru
In 2022, approx. 147K tons of frozen, dried and smoked fish were exported from Peru; falling by -6.5% compared with the previous year's figure. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 25% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 157K tons, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, frozen, dried and smoked fish exports rose notably to $691M in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +12.9% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +48.3% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 37% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
