Price for Frozen, Dried and Smoked Fish in Kuwait (CIF) - 2022
The average import price for frozen, dried and smoked fish stood at $4,013 per ton in 2022, rising by 5.8% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.8%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 48% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $4,165 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($9,851 per ton), while the price for Myanmar ($1,063 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Pakistan (+13.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Price for Frozen, Dried and Smoked Fish in Kuwait (FOB) - 2022
The average export price for frozen, dried and smoked fish stood at $7,174 per ton in 2022, surging by 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, frozen, dried and smoked fish export price increased by +32.0% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 179% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $9,076 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($10,170 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bahrain ($421 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (+15.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Imports of Frozen, Dried and Smoked Fish in Kuwait
After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of frozen, dried and smoked fish decreased by -11.7% to 21K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.1% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 29%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 23K tons, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, frozen, dried and smoked fish imports dropped to $83M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +8.7% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 30%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $88M, and then shrank in the following year.
