The average import price for frozen crabs and crabs meat stood at $33,523 per ton in March 2023, surging by 279% against the previous month. Overall, the import price saw a buoyant increase. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($81,469 per ton), while the price for Spain ($19,213 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2022 to March 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+105.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for frozen crabs and crabs meat amounted to $8,829 per ton, remaining constant against the previous year. The export price peaked at $9,311 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+4.1%).

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in supplies from abroad of frozen crabs and crabs meat, when their volume increased by 17% to 39 tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a precipitous curtailment.
