In November 2023, the average import price for food preparations not elsewhere specified or included amounted to $8,112 per ton, waning by -5.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 an increase of 21% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $8,565 per ton in October 2023, and then fell in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was France ($21,088 per ton), while the price for the Czech Republic ($6,595 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for food preparations not elsewhere specified or included amounted to $5,618 per ton, shrinking by -5.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 24% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $5,964 per ton in 2021, and then fell in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($14,192 per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($1,382 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+13.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was decline in supplies from abroad of food preparations not elsewhere specified or included, when their volume decreased by -5% to 51K tons. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 14% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 54K tons, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, imports of food preparations not elsewhere specified or included fell to $345M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.6% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +31.7% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 35%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $389M, and then reduced in the following year.

The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 25%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 60K tons, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, exports of food preparations not elsewhere specified or included dropped dramatically to $288M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.9% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +29.0% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 44% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $360M, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.
