Price for Food Preparations Not Elsewhere Specified or Included in Egypt (CIF) - 2023
In November 2023, the average import price for food preparations not elsewhere specified or included amounted to $78,261 per ton, increasing by 114% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 478% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $260K per ton. From June 2023 to November 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from China ($7,881 per ton) and the United States ($7,616 per ton), while the price for Argentina ($6,007 per ton) and Poland ($6,688 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for food preparations not elsewhere specified or included amounted to $6,209 per ton, shrinking by -15.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average export price increased by 116% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $7,382 per ton in 2021, and then declined notably in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Jordan ($6,858 per ton), while the average price for exports to Oman ($1,234 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sudan (+15.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the third year in a row, Egypt recorded decline in overseas purchases of food preparations not elsewhere specified or included, which decreased by -10.3% to 17K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a dramatic curtailment.
In value terms, imports of food preparations not elsewhere specified or included expanded to $232M in 2022. In general, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 7.4%.
