In 2022, the average import price for flour and meal; of potatoeses amounted to $1,936 per ton, increasing by 5.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 51% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,946 per ton; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($6,235 per ton), while the price for Myanmar ($487 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+35.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for flour and meal; of potatoeses stood at $1,352 per ton in 2022, increasing by 7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the average export price increased by 30% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $3,430 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($2,848 per ton), while the average price for exports to Brunei Darussalam ($801 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Imports of Flour and Meal; of Potatoes in Malaysia
In 2022, overseas purchases of flour and meal; of potatoeses decreased by -6.5% to 873 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend.
