Price for Flaked or Rolled Cereal in the United States (CIF) - 2023

The average flaked or rolled cereal import price stood at $863 per ton in September 2023, rising by 23% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 when the average import price increased by 39% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $1,010 per ton in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to September 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Turkey ($890 per ton), while the price for Bolivia ($144 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+6.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In September 2023, the average flaked or rolled cereal export price amounted to $756 per ton, surging by 23% against the previous month. In general, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Israel ($2,868 per ton), while the average price for exports to Mexico ($561 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Taiwan (Chinese) (+12.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Flaked or Rolled Cereal in the United States

In 2022, the amount of flaked or rolled cereals imported into the United States rose sharply to 684K tons, increasing by 6.2% against the previous year's figure. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 17% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
