Price for Flaked or Rolled Cereal in Ghana (FOB) - 2022

The average flaked or rolled cereal export price stood at $898 per ton in 2022, approximately equating the previous year. In general, the export price, however, enjoyed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 55%. The export price peaked at $907 per ton in 2021, and then contracted slightly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($1,347 per ton), while the average price for exports to Togo ($447 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Nigeria (+40.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average flaked or rolled cereal import price amounted to $885 per ton, reducing by -26.1% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, enjoyed a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average import price increased by 66%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $1,198 per ton in 2021, and then declined remarkably in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($1,547 per ton), while the price for Canada ($356 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+35.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Exports of Flaked or Rolled Cereal in Ghana

After three years of growth, shipments abroad of flaked or rolled cereals decreased by -24% to 348 tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 238% against the previous year.

In value terms, flaked or rolled cereal exports dropped sharply to $313K in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 374%.

In 2022, overseas purchases of flaked or rolled cereals were finally on the rise to reach 306 tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, recorded a dramatic slump.

In value terms, flaked or rolled cereal imports expanded significantly to $271K in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant curtailment.
