In 2022, the average import price for fish fillets; frozen, flat fish (pleuronectidae, bothidae, cynoglossidae, soleidae, scophthalmidae and citharidae)s amounted to $13,800 per ton, remaining stable against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average import price increased by 61%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $13,840 per ton in 2021, and then declined slightly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($26,211 per ton), while the price for Germany stood at $6,194 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+69.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

For the third year in a row, Ghana recorded decline in supplies from abroad of fish fillets; frozen, flat fish (pleuronectidae, bothidae, cynoglossidae, soleidae, scophthalmidae and citharidae)s, which decreased by 0% to 50 kg in 2022. In general, imports recorded a dramatic contraction. The smallest decline of -18% was in 2021.
In value terms, imports of fish fillets; frozen, flat fish (pleuronectidae, bothidae, cynoglossidae, soleidae, scophthalmidae and citharidae)s shrank modestly to $690 in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a precipitous decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 0.4% against the previous year.
