In 2022, the average import price for fish fillets; frozen, flat fish (pleuronectidae, bothidae, cynoglossidae, soleidae, scophthalmidae and citharidae)s amounted to $4,021 per ton, with an increase of 19% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.0%. The import price peaked at $4,672 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($4,684 per ton), while the price for Slovenia ($2,669 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+23.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In general, the export price, however, showed temperate growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 35% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $9,945 per ton, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Serbia ($13,450 per ton), while the average price for exports to Montenegro ($3,464 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2013 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Slovenia (+6.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
