In August 2023, the average export price for ferrous waste and scrap; remelting scrap ingots of iron or steels amounted to $454 per ton, with an increase of 15% against the previous month. Over the last ten-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.9%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 when the average export price increased by 31% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $592 per ton. From June 2023 to August 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Finland ($1,550 per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($316 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+1.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
