In September 2023, the average export price for ferrous waste and scrap; of tinned iron or steels amounted to $404 per ton, declining by -1.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated a mild expansion from October 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4% over the last eleven-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, export price for ferrous waste and scrap; of tinned iron or steels increased by +18.0% against May 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 213% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $642 per ton. From January 2023 to September 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was France ($404 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($365 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
